System resources of a shared hosting account can at times get pretty limited, especially during peak times of the day. By switching from a shared hosting account to a cheap dedicated server you can get an entire server devoted to meet just your website(s) demand. These days bargain dedicated servers can be had for very little, in some cases a lot less than a shared hosting account. I know of one business that was paying over $60 per month for 1 website on a shared server. A budget of $60 per month would give you the pick of cheap dedicated servers since some of the packages start for as little as $29.95 per month, giving you so much more expansion capabilities since you can host 100 or more of your own websites on a cheap dedicated server. You could even host a few of your friends websites and have them pitch in to pay your hosting fee, which is a great segway to cost reduction by purchasing an affordable dedicated server.
Cheap dedicated servers can give you way more dedicated system resources for your website than a shared hosting account and here is why:
Did you know that on a shared hosting account you could be 1 of hundreds if not thousands of websites that are on the same web server, compare that to just one account on when you elect to host your account on cheap dedicated servers. Now imagine that even if that server has 8 Gigabytes of system RAM and is a dual xeon server with each processor being a quad core XEON running a 2 GHz, (which would make it a fast server at the time of writing this article) that would leave about 1 gig or RAM and one 2 GHz core available for your site if there were only 8 other accounts the same web server. Now granted there will be a lot more than 8 accounts on one of those servers and the moment that happens, you are getting considerably less system resources on peak load times.
Affordable dedicated server hosting can be a great workaround that guarantees you will get the system resources that you pay for and with some cheap dedicated servers starting at under $30 there really is no excuse for moving from a shared hosting account to a dedicated hosting service.
Bandwidth is another important system resource where dedicated servers can outshine shared webhosting. While you may think that just because your shared hosting account gives you unlimited bandwidth (as some do) that you don't have to worry about how many people your website can serve at a time.
Well in the real world a server can only pump out so much data also known as bandwidth and this is where the bottleneck can occur when you have a lot of busy websites that are all hosted on the same web server. By moving over to cheap dedicated servers you can give your website an entire network card (this is where all the data has to pass through to get from your server to the Internet) all to its own.
